Out of concern for all God's people and in response to the USCCB's directive, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana utilizes a program for the safe environment education of children and young people called Circle of Grace. This program is meant to be a supplement to the formation of children and young people that goes on in the home and in schools.
God's love and the the love of those who circle each person can be described as a circle of grace. God intends our relationships in life to be experiences of divine love: respectful, nurturing, and loving. Unfortunately, the reality of sin in our world makes it critical to teach kids how to stay safe and know who to turn to in situations of fear and uncertainty. Circle of Grace is designed to equip our youth by arming them with essential knowledge and skills to stay safe, grounded in the richness of our faith. It also helps youth to understand their own dignity and the dignity of others in mind, body, and spirit - rooted in our identity as God's children. When this dignity is violated, our circle of grace can crumble. Therefore, Circle of Grace goes beyond just protection by helping children and young people understand the sacredness of who they are and how to seek help through their relationships and trusted adults.
Please feel free to contact the appropriate staff member for your child's grade level if you have questions or want more information.
