Music Ministry Opportunities

ADULT CHOIR

Parishioners ages 18+ are invited to sing with the adult choir. 
The group rehearses at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evenings and sings for two 10:30 am Sunday Masses per month, in addition to Holy Days of Obligation.  All are welcome and no audition is required. Email Lauren for more information (scroll to the top for contact info).

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

All children of the parish, grades 2 – 8, are invited to make a joyful noise with the Children’s Choir! 
The group rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 2:45 – 3:45 and sings at the 5:00 pm Mass once per month.

ACCOMPANIST

We are always looking for parishioners who play piano and/or organ to help accompany for Masses at St. Alphonsus.  Our Director of Sacred Music works hard to accommodate scheduling needs for our accompanists, and musicians may choose the frequency with which they play (for example, if you would prefer only to be scheduled once a month, we can accommodate that).  A brief audition is required and training is provided. CANTOR

"We are always in need of additional cantors, and I’m particularly grateful when we have enough volunteers to schedule more than one cantor per Mass, allowing them to harmonize." - Lauren Lawson, Director of Sacred Music

When the Adult Choir and Children’s Choirs are not singing, we rely on cantors to lead us in singing at Mass - these individuals must be able to learn music independently and lead with confidence. The Director of Sacred Music carefully works around our cantors’ personal schedules to make sure that no one is scheduled more than they prefer or at a time when they are not available.

INSTRUMENTALISTS

Individuals who play other instruments, including (but not limited to) violin, flute, clarinet, oboe, cello, guitar, trumpet, drums, etc., are a tremendous asset to our music ministry.  Each instrument offers its own unique tone and brings texture and depth to the music.  If you play an instrument and would like to get involved, please reach out to schedule a brief audition (scroll to the top for contact info).
