What are these Knights of Columbus doing on the corner of Georgetown Road and 86
th Street with temperatures hovering just above zero? They are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council taking part in the 40 Days for Life campaign. This international effort is the largest pro-life mobilization in history, helping people in local communities end the injustice of abortion.
40 Days for Life does this through:
Prayer and Fasting: knowing that “with God, all things are possible,” people of faith and conscience unite in 40 days of prayer and fasting.
Community Outreach: the pro-life message is taken proactively to every corner of the community during a local 40 Days for Life campaign.
Peaceful Vigil: a focused, 40-day prayer vigil is held outside an abortion facility or public place in the community.
The Saint Alphonsus Liguori Embrace Life Ministry has teamed with Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council to support the local 40 Days for Life campaign. The campaign runs throughout Lent from Wednesday, February 18 through Sunday, March 29. The hours of the local vigil, held at Planned Parenthood at 8590 Georgetown Road in Indianapolis, are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The parish covers two vigil hours each week, Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:00 PM and Monday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. To learn how you can become involved in the local campaign, contact the Embrace Life Ministry at
