This summer, as the parish transforms with construction underway, ministries are finding unique ways to offer programming and continue to serve others.
The regularly planned Vacation Bible School series will not take place this year due to the renovations at the parish, but that did not stop Religious Education staff members and volunteers. RE staff, students and parents have planned a special family event to bring awareness about our young friends in Haiti while offering a way for families in Zionsville to serve them.
The event, Haiti Walk for Water, will take place on Thursday, June 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Zionsville Middle School Track. As families and children walk a specially marked path, they will receive different pieces of information about the children in Haiti who go to St. Alphonsus Liguori's twin parish - St. Anthony of Padua. In addition parents and children will learn about struggles for families to find clean water in Haiti and how organizations like, Gift of Water, Inc., can help. Learning, games and activities are all part of the fun planned for this summer event.
The event is $35 per family. Each registration fee will help provide one water filtration system for one Haitian family. Download the registration form below and sign up your family for this fun and interactive event. Registrations forms can also be found in the parish narthex near the west door or in the parish office. Questions about registration can be emailed to [email protected].
Children in Haiti don't have clean water to drink and can receive many different illnesses due to contaminants in their water.
