Hey youth ministry students! Will you share about your summer ministry program experience? See the bottom of this page to learn more.
This past weekend, middle school students from the parish's youth ministry, participated in the Carmel Deanery's youth service retreat, Summer Dayz.
The three day camp brought together Catholic youth to live their faith by serving people throughout the community.
Guerin Catholic High School served as a home base where students slept, ate meals, enjoyed friendly games, learned about Catholic teaching and celebrated Mass.
In the morning, students ventured out in teams to different service worksites where they helped local charities by offering their time and talent. They accomplished everything from cleaning facilities, working in gardens, sorting donations and even sharing a smile with others. "They get to see and learn about organizations locally run by teams of volunteers and witness the significant impact they have on the community," explained Paul Sifuentes, Director of Youth Ministry at the parish.
This wasn't a week of all work and no play either. After a long day of serving, the youth were able to enjoy some fellowship as they went bowling and swimming.
Summer Dayz was not the only program for parish youth this summer. Recently, one of the bulletin covers featured high school youth on their service trip to Toledo, Ohio where they participated in Catholic Heart Work Camp. The Daughters of the Immaculata traveled to Illinois to the National Shrine of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Ministry members also traveled to South Bend, Ind. for Notre Dame Vision, a renowned conference program focused on the theme of how young people answer their call from God.
It was a busy but faith filled summer for all!
Tell us about your summer youth ministry experience!
It's always inspiring to hear about young people going further to live their faith and take time to learn more about God. We'd like to hear from students who attended a parish summer program. Simply write a few sentences of what you enjoyed most during your youth ministry summer activity. Be sure to include your name, and what program you participated in. Then, have mom or dad email your submission to [email protected] or drop it off at the parish office. Try to keep submissions under 150 words.
In the next few weeks, before summer vacation has passed, we'll share what students had to say about their summer.
